Travel Nurse Tips

Fastest state for endorsement in the Southeast. If you have an NLC license, Florida is 'walk-through' ready. If you need a single-state license, the background check is usually the only bottleneck.

Temporary License

Fingerprinting

Required

Jurisprudence Exam

Not required

Endorsement Process

Endorsement Fee: $110

Nurses who have actively practiced in another state for 3 of the last 5 years are eligible for endorsement even if they did not take the NCLEX (rare for modern RNs). Must use a Florida-approved LiveScan provider for background checks.

Temporary License Information

Temporary permits are available if requested during the application process. Most travel nurses utilize the NLC multistate privilege instead.

Processing Time Notes

Florida is known for quick turnaround times, often issuing licenses within a week of receiving complete documentation and background results.

Continuing Education

24 hours required every 2 years

Includes mandatory courses: Prevention of Medical Errors (2hr), Laws and Rules (2hr), Human Trafficking (2hr), and Domestic Violence (2hr every 3rd renewal).

Additional Information

Renewal fees alternate slightly based on the renewal cycle; $65 is the standard active renewal fee.
