Travel Nurse Tips

North Carolina is a core NLC state and very efficient for travelers. The 6-month temp license is generous compared to other states, often allowing nurses to finish an entire 13-week contract while the permanent license is pending.

Nursys verification is required for all states of previous licensure. Background checks use Live Scan for NC residents and fingerprint cards for out-of-state residents.

Temporary License Information

A temporary license (valid for 6 months) is included in the $150 fee. It is issued once the board receives a complete application and criminal background check fingerprints.
